Hi there,

We’re Miikka and Jussi, frontend developers at Agileday, and we’re looking for a detail-oriented frontend developer to join us. We’ll get to the details later, but let’s first introduce ourselves so that you’ll get a better understanding of what we’re looking for.

Miikka, the more technically oriented of us, focuses on frontend implementation, performance optimization, tooling, systems, and more. Jussi, a designer-turned-developer, focuses on design, usability, interaction, accessibility, design direction, reviews, and more. This is where you come in.

To strengthen our frontend team, we’re looking for someone leaning toward the back-of-the-frontend category. If you’re a more visual person, here’s the same in a graph:

Mind you, we’re more than happy if your skills extend beyond the graph’s boundaries, but we’ve yet to meet anyone who’s really good across the full spectrum. And really good is what we’re after.

In this role, you will…

• Build with React and Typescript. Design and implement scalable, maintainable components using React.

• Contribute to architecture. Help us structure our frontend as we scale. We don't expect you to have all the answers, but we do assume you to ask the right questions.

• Improve developer experience. You will work with the team to identify friction points in our development process. Whether that's slow builds or messy configuration files, you know how to address them.

• Work on performance. You will help us keep the application snappy and reliable. This includes monitoring bundle sizes, rendering performance, and code quality.

• Bridge design and code. You will work with our designers and developers to ensure the implementation meets the visual vision.

You’ll feel right at home if you…

• Enjoy working with React on the technical frontend. You have used React in production environments and understand its core concepts, including hooks, context, and the lifecycle. Just a heads-up: Miikka will review every useEffect, useMemo, and useCallback in a PR to ensure they really are necessary (spoiler alert: they often are not).

• Know modern JavaScript/TypeScript. You are comfortable with modern ES standards and writing type-safe code.

• Like testing. You know modern testing frameworks and can write tests that give us confidence in our code.

• Know how to use AI. You understand how to use and instruct AI. We use Cursor across the board, and it also helps with reviewing PRs.

• Care for your craft. You value clean code and good documentation, but you are pragmatic enough to know that shipping value to customers comes first.

• Appreciate clear communication. Good code is essential, as are good pull requests, commits, Slack messages, and feedback sessions. And participation in the #memes Slack channel.
